The classes provided at Bird Hills Golf Club are based on a structured syllabus built around a six week program. The courses are designed to take a student from absolute beginners (level 1) to advanced (level 6). A number of specific steps and techniques are taught at each level. If you are unable to attend a particular class you can attend one of our other classes on a different night.

The courses have been validated by Basil Pinnock who is a UKA qualified instructor with the United Kingdom Alliance and a director of dance2salsa. Courses are taught and delivered to a very high standard with a major emphasis on fun, development and exercise. Classes start approximately every six weeks throughout the year on Monday and Wednesday evening and are listed at the end of this page.

Class times are as follows:

Mondays
7.30pm - 8.30pm - Absolute Beginners
8.30pm - 9pm Absolute Beginners practice time
9pm - 10pm - La Rueda Wheel (Levels 1,2 & 3)
10pm - 11.15pm - Dance & practice

Level 1 (beginners) Rueda will be taught by Melissa, Level 2 (improvers) by Kathie Towersey and Level 3 (intermediate/advanced) by Basil

Wednesdays
7.45pm - 8.45pm (beginners, beginners plus and improvers 1)
8.50 - 10.00pm (improvers 2, intermediate and advanced)
10.00pm - 11.30pm - dance practice.

Our absolute beginners and beginners plus classes will be taught by Eva and Melissa respectively. The improvers 1 class is taught by Basil, the improvers 2 class is taught by Colin, the Intermediate class by Paul whilst the advanced class will also be taught by Basil & Melissa.

It is very important to note that our classes are pitched at a level which we believe accurately represents the salsa levels as they should be. At present there are six levels to our syllabus. Of great importance is the fact that great emphasis is placed on developing great technique over and above acquiring lots of moves.
